About True Harbour

True Harbour is a place for me to chronicle my journey through the world of books, literature, and the process of making them.

I write myself, so often you'll see posts about my journey through my own "sub-creating," as Tolkien put it. My sub-creations usually manifest themselves by way of fictional novelling and short stories, but occasionally you may see a poem or lyrics of a song.

But besides writing book reviews and complaining about the writer's life, True Harbour is also a place for me to enjoy the sheer wonder and excitement of story.

Jesus Christ used stories. He knew that humans thrive on them, that we need stories to connect with the world around us. Perhaps that's why God allowed the Bible to be written in the first place - it's full of stories and songs and poems...and the best part is, they all hold the Divine Truth!

In our fragmented, sinful beings, there still lies a desire for the divine. We can never fully grasp it, or hold its sight for very long. But through the God-given gift of story, myth, and legend, we can begin to catch glimpses of it, of all that we are, of all that Christ is. It will be a diminished, tainted view, a bare minimum understanding of who God is and what Good really means ... but it will be a beautiful sight nontheless.

In short, True Harbour is about the Christian life, about our journeying from here to eternity. The ocean of life is a terrifying expanse...but we have the Lord as our anchor, His Spirit as the wind in our sails, and the majesty of God Almighty as our sunrise over the horizon, guiding us to our destination. Each book I read, each story I write, each aspect of His truth that I discover within them is just another stroke of the oars in my ship. I hope you find much to be enjoyed, laughed and cried over here. I want you to make it to that Harbour with me. Won't you join me in getting there?
