Teaser Tuesdays - June 23

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers

This passage is too good; I can't just pick two sentences!

"I seen a boy hang once. Stole a steak from Hankee's Butcher Shop."

We all stared at him like he said he'd seen a ghost.

"His whole body shook like he was trying to get free. They said he was too small to break his own neck." He laughed, a twisted up laugh taht made me shiver inside and out.

"That's sinful wrong." Mr. Clemson shook hiw head.

Ma hugged her arms. "The poor child."

"Not so poor anymore," John said. "You don't need a full belly when you're dead."

The truth in dark things seems as evil as the things themselves just for being true. And I wondered just how dark John Worth had to be inside to say such things." ~ Worth by A. LaFaye
